Adaptation and Planning brings the capability of fulfilling the tasks of real-life business into the BREIN architecture. For this purpose agent technology enhanced by Semantics supports the grid by executing tasks. The project BREIN focuses on problem solving by collections of multiple agents that is called Multiagent System (MAS). It consists of agents that jointly solve a given problem by coordinating their individual behaviour. Multiagent technology offers adaptive and flexible problem solving approaches. Multiagent technology comprises cooperative coordination approaches such as distributed or centralized, partial or global planning, and competitive coordination approaches such as economic interactions on markets, in auctions and negotiations as well as interaction protocols such as contract nets.
