Knowledge Portal

A crucial success factor for research projects is to enable the distribution of the results and the insights to the community and to the outside world to allow the take- up and ensure the sustainability of the project. The BREIN Knowledge Portal collects and organizes the knowledge implicitly and explicitly available in BREIN, and also facilitates the usage of the BREIN knowledge space for the project consortium and in the end also for externals interested in using the BREIN platform.

The PROMOTE® methodology for knowledge management has been applied to create the Roadmap and has been used to make the implicit experience of development and of the  research partners explicit. The resulting Roadmap contains a formal representation of procedures that describe the implementation, adaptation or usage of the BREIN architecture, as well as tools to enable the execution of the roadmap.

The Roadmap to BREIN convergence:

  • provides a graphic representation of key elements in BREIN to organize and simplify the content,
  • provides a stepwise guideline for specific tasks and deployment processes by pointing out key activities,
  • enables guided navigation through the knowledge content,
  • integrates different knowledge resources like documents, diagrams, code samples or videos.

One example of tools supporting the execution of the Roadmap is the "Process Stepper" which is depicted below. The "Process Stepper" guides the user through selected processes, by providing instructions for the current task and related resources for each step. In case more detailed information is desired, experts can be contacted.
